User question:
How do I know if the offer is right for me?

Contact us and ask away. We are happy to share our honest feedback if it's really sensible for your trip. 642Otherwise:
At the end of the day, the decision is yours. However, in the past 5 years, we've observed the following:No, the offer isn't right for you if... ... you find it exciting to dive into the Australian car market yourself, embracing it as part of your journey. This means searching for offers, negotiating prices, organizing workshop checks, and dealing with the general risks and pitfalls of car shopping in Australia.
Yes, the offer is exactly right for you if... ... you want to hop straight into a reliable car upon arrival. This means you're unsure about car shopping, don't know much about cars, and prefer playing it safe. In this case, our offer fits you perfectly.
Our experience?
We've tried both options several times ourselves. Buying a car on your own can often be stressful and, unfortunately, doesn't work out for many backpackers. Nevertheless, it can also be an enriching experience.Testimonials

About the displayed models
Important to know: The displayed models may differ from the actual vehicle, but should generally be the same size. The reason is that local mechanics work with cars available on the car market (they cannot conjure cars out of thin air).Frequently chosen models:
Budget Camper: Station Wagons, Sedans, Hyundai Tucson
Light Camper: Subaru Legacy / Outback
Medium Camper – Basic: Toyota Ipsum, Mazda Premacy, Honda Odyssey, Toyota Wish
Medium Camper – Plus: Toyota Estima / Previa, Mazda MPV, Nissan Presage
Large Camper – Basic: Mitsubishi L300 SWB, Nissan Vanette, Mazda Bongo, Nissan Elgrande, Honda Elysion
Large Camper – Plus: Mitsubishi L300 LWB, Nissan Caravan, Isuzu Commo, Toyota HiaceParticularly in peak season, it might happen that larger models are no longer available. In this case, a smaller model will be substituted if necessary. Luckily, this rarely happens, and you can decide against the purchase on-site at any time.

The Extras
The most comprehensive offer for German travelers in Australia.
Highlight 1 – The Buyback Guarantee
At the end of your trip, you have the option to sell the car back to the workshop. This way, you don’t have to worry about being stuck with the vehicle. After all, that would be a really sad ending to your adventure.
How does the buyback work?
The buyback conditions vary slightly depending on the workshop. But every workshop offers a buyback and will do its best to refund as much as possible from the purchase price. How much do you get back?
The buyback guarantee is totally voluntary. You can use it, but you don’t have to – you also have the option to sell your camper yourself at the end of the trip.Tip: If you try during the high season (from August to February), you might have the chance to get the full purchase price back. It’s definitely worth a try, and we don’t want to keep this opportunity from you.
If you can’t sell your camper or don’t have the time or desire to deal with it, you can take advantage of the buyback guarantee.
Especially in the off-season, it’s often difficult to sell a camper since there are fewer buyers. In this case, the buyback guarantee is extremely practical, ensuring you don’t get stuck with the camper.
Highlight 2 – The Breakdown Warranty
Each of our partner workshops provides a breakdown warranty. If anything is missed during the mechanical & safety check of the camper, you’re fully covered. Sexy!
For us, this guarantee is probably the absolute highlight of the entire offer. We’ve worked hard, and you won’t find such an option with any other provider. 525What’s included in this warranty?
Engine and transmission damages are covered. So if your car decides to give up on you, you can relax, knowing you don’t have to worry. What’s not included?
Interior damage or damage from external influences, like a stone chip in the windshield, are not covered. This is, of course, outside the workshop’s responsibility.
Is there a time limit for the warranty?
Of course, because no one can offer an unlimited repair flat rate. Even the best car shows wear and tear after months of driving in Australia. Therefore, a functionality guarantee is always limited in time to keep it fair for the workshop.
Highlight 4 – The Mechanical & Background Check
Before a camper is sold, all partner workshops conduct a thorough technical check. Additionally, the background of the previous owner and any open fines are checked. So you can be sure that the camper is in perfect technical and legal condition.

Locations in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth
We work with several certified partner workshops in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth. This benefit allows you to use the buyback guarantee at both locations. Additionally, we can coordinate the workload of various workshops so the mechanics can work calmly and without pressure.
Important to know: Every year, we thoroughly examine the quality, utilization, and processes of all partner workshops. We use, among other things, our own rating system, which you might know from Airbnb.

Here's How It Works
play audioHere’s a short overview of how the inquiry process works. Important to know: You are not obliged to buy at any time and can cancel your inquiry anytime without issues.
Step 1: You fill out an inquiry
Once you’ve submitted your inquiry, we carefully review it. We answer your questions, ensure all details are correct, and check whether one of our partner workshops in Australia can prepare your desired model.
Step 2: Your spot is secured
If everything fits, we immediately secure you a spot. You can trust that a car will be prepared for you in Australia. The inquiry remains non-binding up to this point – you can still cancel anytime.
Step 3: You make the deposit
Once one of our partner workshops has confirmed, we contact you to discuss the deposit. Then the on-site mechanics start searching for your car, carry out repairs, and complete all necessary safety checks – but at the earliest 4 weeks before your arrival. You can relax, as you don’t have to worry about anything further and save yourself the hassle of car searching on-site.
Step 4: You pick up the camper
And then it’s off to Australia! Your car will be ready for pick up on time. You can calmly look it over and decide if it meets your expectations. The mechanics on-site will assist you with any further steps.
Then your adventure can start. Have fun!
User question:
What if I don't want to buy the camper?
If the camper doesn't suit you, you are not obligated to buy it. You can cancel the inquiry anytime. In this case, you will get your deposit back, and we will gladly give you some helpful tips if you prefer to take over the camper purchase process yourself.
Good to know:
We collaborate with various partner workshops throughout Australia. Should the camper not meet your expectations, other workshops can often step in and offer you a suitable vehicle. Your deposit stays intact and can be used there as well. Just let us know!User question:
What do I need to do after the purchase?
You only have two things to do after the purchase:
The insurance and the Change of Ownership. Unfortunately, we can't organize both directly for you as the new car owner in Australia always has to take out these insurances themselves.
-
The Deposit (415,- €)
This is necessary to be fair and safe for everyone involved. About 20 hours of preparation time go into each car – for conversions, maintenance, repairs, and customer service – to ensure it is in perfect and safe condition.
We tried working without an initial deposit for a while. Here’s what happened:
After comparing, buying, repairing, and setting aside cars, interested parties simply did not show up. That’s not okay.To ensure that inquiries are serious, there is the deposit.
Important to know:
You DON’T have to buy the car on-site. Take a look at it in peace and then make your decision. If you do not want to buy it, we will refund your deposit, including the deposit protection, in full.
So everything remains fair for everyone involved.Other providers charge up to 50% of the purchase price in advance. We definitely didn’t want to handle it that way. At the same time, it’s important to us to make the offer fair and safe for everyone involved. 415 euros is a good amount in our eyes for this. The 415 euros are both the deposit for the car and the compensation for the organization and planning by KiwiQuest.Important to note:
The 415 euros are covered by the workshops on-site and not by you. The prices remain the same for you as they would be if you bought directly on your own from our partner workshops in Australia.
User question:
What happens to my deposit if I don't buy the campervan?
Thanks to the deposit protection, you get your deposit back if you choose not to buy the car on-site. You are never obligated to purchase the prepared camper.
User question:
Are there any conditions for the deposit refund?
No.
If you decide on-site not to buy the car and have booked deposit protection, you will get your deposit back in full. You don't have to give a reason or justify yourself (although your feedback would help us, of course). There are no special conditions.
User question:
Do I receive a receipt or a document for the deposit?
Yup. You will automatically receive a normal payment receipt for your deposit.
The receipt provides clarity and security for everyone involved – in your case, mainly so that you can always prove that you have made the deposit. (In general, it's always good to have such a document.)
Additionally, there will, of course, be an official purchase contract on-site, which will be explained to you step by step. However, you only need to sign it after you have seen and tested the car.
(Warning: Be cautious with companies that require you to sign such a contract before viewing the car!)
User question:
How much time do I have to make the deposit?
In general, it always makes sense to make the deposit sooner rather than later.
Every year, we're fully booked and must prioritize available spots for those who have already made a deposit. The background is that we must treat the workshops fairly. Even though the deposit doesn't obligate you to anything, it's an important signal for the workshops that an inquiry is serious.
(Good to know: If you cancel your inquiry, we refund the deposit. It's always just about securing one of the spots for you.)

Frequently Asked Questions
What other KiwiQuesters wanted to know…
User question:
Is the request binding?
No. A spot is initially blocked for you. You are never obliged to purchase.
User question:
Where do I pick up the car?
Pickup locations are possible in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth. You'll, of course, receive the exact address beforehand via email.
User question:
What to do in case of damage?
If there is damage or a breakdown, always first contact our partner workshop. Then we can figure out together how to proceed.
User question:
Where can I resell the vehicle?
The buyback option is currently available in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth. But of course, you can also easily sell your car elsewhere in the country. :-)
User question:
How is the rest of the balance paid on site?
There are three options for this:
Option 1: In Cash (not possible with all partners)
In Australia, the daily withdrawal limit for an EC card is often between 200 and 1,000 AUD (Australian dollars), depending on your German bank and the settings on your account.
Please plan this and perhaps bring some of the money from Germany.Note: This option is not possible with all partner workshops.
Option 2: By Credit Card (not possible with all partners)
Visa or MasterCard can be used as credit cards. Please inquire about the set limits and possibly have them changed so that nothing goes wrong during payment.Note: It's perhaps worth asking to ensure that the credit card was activated for Australia.
Option 3: By Transfer (recommended)
Our partner workshops use wise.com to enable payment by transfer. We would also recommend you open an account here, as it only takes 20 minutes and is generally very convenient for Australia.User question:
How is the camper insured?
Unfortunately, the new car owner in Australia must always take out the insurance themselves, as we cannot offer it. However, the teams on-site are happy to help you find the right direction – especially if you speak to them directly.
Possibly good to know:
In general, you do not have to insure your camper in Australia, as there is no obligation to do so. However, it is highly advisable to take out insurance to protect yourself against potential damages or accidents.User question:
How much can the actual model deviate from the desired model?
Normally, the partner workshops find a suitable model for you. However, if nothing suitable is available on the public market, they might resort to a slightly smaller model to ensure you are not without a camper upon arrival.
In this case, you, of course, have the option on-site to decide against the purchase or (if available) choose another model.
User question:
Should you collect the camper directly after the flight or stay in a hotel for a few days first?
We would definitely recommend relaxing in a hotel for 1-2 days beforehand and settling in.
The flight is really long, and even though the vehicle handover, purchase, and insurance are sorted out quickly, you need a clear head to do all that. Doing everything immediately after jet lag is usually not such a good idea.
User question:
What distinguishes the Medium Camper Basic from the Plus model?
The two models mainly differ in size. The Medium Camper Plus models are slightly longer, which usually means more storage space and a larger sleeping area. Also, the sleeping area in the Plus model can be converted into a seating area. Sure, it's not ideal for sitting in for long periods, but on rainy days, it can be really handy.
Moreover, you simply provide the workshop on site with more financial leeway when preparing your car. As a result, the quality often increases significantly.
User question:
Do I have to specify a fixed date when making a request, or can I change it later?
You can initially enter an approximate date to secure a spot and make changes later when you know your exact arrival date. A simple email to us (or the team from the partner workshop taking over your request) is enough.
User question:
What happens after I make the deposit for the camper?
Once your deposit is received, you will receive another email with a payment receipt and contact details, as well as a booking confirmation from the workshop itself later.
The on-site teams will then begin the preparations.
User question:
How much time can I take with the deposit?
In general, it always makes sense to make the deposit sooner rather than later.
We are fully booked every year and primarily allocate the available spots to those who have already made a deposit. The background is that we want to ensure fairness for the workshops. Even though the deposit doesn't oblige you to anything, it is an important signal that your request is serious.
(Good to know: If you cancel your request, we refund the deposit. It's always just about securing one of the spots for you.)
User question:
Will I already know what kind of car it is (model & brand)?
The partner workshops only begin preparations after the deposit has been received (and at the earliest 5 weeks before pickup). They naturally have to work with the models currently available on the public car market.
However, there are experiences which vehicles are often used for which model:
