    User question:
How do I know if the offer suits me?

    Talk to us
Contact us and ask. We'll happily give you honest feedback on whether it's really worthwhile for your trip through Canada. 😊

    Otherwise:
Ultimately, the decision is yours. However, over the past 5 years, we've observed the following:

No, the offer is not right for you if... you find it exciting to dive into the Canadian vehicle market on your own and see it as part of your adventure. This means searching for offers, negotiating prices, organizing workshop checks and dealing with risks and pitfalls when buying a vehicle in Canada.

Yes, the offer is perfect for you if... you want to get into a reliable vehicle immediately upon arrival. This means you're unsure about vehicle shopping, don't know much about vehicles, and prefer to play it safe. In this case, our offer is ideal for you.

    Our experience?

We've tried both options multiple times. Buying a vehicle on one's own can often be stressful and doesn't go well for many travelers. Yet, it can also be an enriching experience.

    Note:
    About the Displayed Models
Important to know: The models shown may differ from the actual vehicle, but they should be roughly the same size. This is because the mechanics on site work with the vehicles available on the Canadian market (they can’t just make vehicles appear).

    Frequently chosen models:
Budget Camper: Station Wagons, Sedans, Hyundai Tucson
Light Camper: Subaru Legacy / Outback
Medium Camper – Basic: Toyota Ipsum, Mazda Premacy, Honda Odyssey, Toyota Wish
Medium Camper – Plus: Toyota Estima / Previa, Mazda MPV, Nissan Presage
Large Camper – Basic: Mitsubishi L300 SWB, Nissan Vanette, Mazda Bongo, Nissan Elgrande, Honda Elysion
Large Camper – Plus: Mitsubishi L300 LWB, Nissan Caravan, Isuzu Commo, Toyota Hiace

Especially in peak season, it can happen that larger models are no longer available. In this case, if necessary, a smaller model will be used. Fortunately, this rarely happens, and you can always decide against the purchase on site.

    Real Impressions

Are you ready for your mobile home? Here are some sample images. Please note that actual models may vary as the mechanics on site work with vehicles currently available on the Canadian market.

  3. The Equipment

For a comfortable journey with safety, coziness, and good music!

Highlight 1 – The Camper Kit

The Camper Kit includes everything you need for living and traveling in a vehicle. So, you don’t have to get equipment after your purchase – you can start your Canada adventure immediately. Very handy, right?

    A quick overview:

    • Kitchenette
    • Car radio
    • Portable toilet
    • Water tanks & sink
    • Gas stove with cartridges
    • Cutlery, dishes & cooking utensils
    • Bedding, blankets & pillows

Highlight 2 – The Bed Conversion

Each vehicle offers enough space for a comfortable sleeping area for two people. In larger vehicles, you can even turn it into a seating area. This way, you can sleep comfortably in your vehicle and save on accommodation costs in Canada.

Included in the bed conversion are:

    • Comfortable mattress
    • Bedding and covers
    • Curtains for added privacy
    About the Seats:

The smaller models are suitable for two people, while the larger camper variants accommodate three people. If you need additional sleeping or seating areas, higher costs may apply, as this requires larger vehicles and additional conversion.

To avoid misunderstandings: The shown images are just examples and provide a rough idea. The conversion is individually designed for each request and depends on the respective workshop and vehicle model.

This means the final conversion may differ from these images.

  4. The Extras

The most extensive offer for German travelers in Canada.

Highlight 1 – The Buyback Guarantee

At the end of your journey, you have the option to sell the vehicle back to the workshop. This way, you don’t have to worry about possibly being stuck with the vehicle. That would really be a sad ending to your adventure.

    How does the buyback work?
The buyback conditions vary slightly depending on the workshop. However, each workshop offers a buyback and will do its best to refund you as much of the purchase price as possible.

How much can you get back?
The Buyback Guarantee is completely voluntary. You can choose to take advantage of it, but you don’t have to – you also have the option to sell your camper yourself at the end of the trip.

Tip: If you try during peak season (from August to February), you might have the chance to get the entire purchase price back. It’s definitely worth trying – and we don’t want to keep this opportunity from you.

If you are unable to sell your camper or have no time or desire to do so, you can use the Buyback Guarantee.

Especially during the off-season, it is often difficult to sell a camper because there are fewer interested buyers. In this case, the Buyback Guarantee is extremely helpful as it ensures you won’t be stuck with the camper.

Highlight 2 – The Breakdown Warranty

Each of our partner workshops offers you a Breakdown Warranty. If something is overlooked during the mechanical & safety check of the camper, you’re fully covered. Sexy!

For us, this warranty is the absolute highlight of the entire offer. We’ve worked hard to secure this, and you won’t find such an option with any other provider. 🔥

    What’s included in this warranty?
All engine and transmission damages are covered. So if your vehicle ever breaks down, you can be assured and not worry.

What’s not included in this warranty?

Damage to the interior or from external influences like a stone chip on the windshield is not included. That naturally falls outside the workshop’s responsibility.

Is there a time limit on the warranty?
Of course, because no one can offer a permanent repair flat-rate. Even the best vehicle shows signs of wear after months of driving through Canada.

Therefore, a functional warranty is always time-limited to keep it fair for the workshop.

Highlight 4 – The Mechanical & Background Check

Before a camper is sold, all partner workshops carry out a thorough technical check. Additionally, the background of the previous owner and any outstanding tickets are checked to ensure that the camper is in perfect technical and legal condition.

  5. Locations in Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary

We work with several reputable partner workshops in Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, and Calgary. This means you can take advantage of the buyback guarantee at all these locations. Additionally, this allows us to coordinate the workload of the different workshops so the mechanics can work calmly and without time pressure.

    Partner workshops in Calgary
    Partner Workshops in Toronto
    Partner Workshops in Montreal
    Partner Workshops in Vancouver

Important to know: Every year, we carefully check the quality, workload, and processes of all partner workshops. We use our own rating system among other tools, which might remind you of platforms like Airbnb.

  6. The Process

Here’s a quick overview of how request processing works. Important to know: You are never obliged to make a purchase and can easily cancel your request at any time.

Step 1: You submit a request

As soon as you send your request, we carefully review it. We answer your questions, ensure all details are correct, and check if one of our partner workshops in Canada can prepare your desired model.

Step 2: Your spot is secured

If everything fits, we immediately secure a spot for you. You can rest assured that a car is being prepared for you in Canada. However, the request remains non-binding until that moment – you can still cancel at any time.

Step 3: You make the deposit

Once one of our partner workshops has confirmed with you, we contact you to discuss the deposit. Then the on-site mechanics start searching for your car, perform repairs, and carry out all necessary safety checks – but not earlier than 4 weeks before your arrival. You can relax, as we take care of everything and save you the entire hassle of on-site car hunting.

Step 4: You pick up the camper

And then it’s off to Canada! Your car will be ready for pickup on time. You can take your time to inspect it and decide if it meets your expectations. The mechanics on site will assist you with all further steps.

After that, your adventure can begin. Enjoy!

    User question:
What do I need to do after the purchase?

After the purchase, you only need to take care of two things:

The insurance and the change of ownership. Unfortunately, we cannot organize either directly for you, as the new car owner in Canada must always complete these themselves.

    User question:
What if I don't want to buy the camper?

If the camper doesn't appeal to you, you are not obliged to buy it. You can cancel the request at any time. In this case, your deposit will be returned, and we are happy to give you some helpful tips if you prefer to handle the camper purchase yourself.

    Good to know:
We cooperate with various partner workshops throughout Canada. If the camper doesn't meet your expectations, other workshops can often step in and offer you a suitable alternative.

  7. The Deposit (€415)

This is necessary to be fair and safe for everyone involved. Roughly 20 hours of preparation time is invested into each car – for conversions, maintenance, repairs, and customer service – to ensure it is in optimal and safe condition.

We tried working without an initial deposit for some time.

    This happened then:
Once the team on site compared, purchased, repaired, and reserved cars, the interested parties simply didn’t show up. That just doesn’t work.

To ensure that requests are taken seriously, there is the deposit.

    Important to know:
You are NOT required to buy the car on site. Take a good look and then make your decision. If you don’t want to buy it, we refund your deposit, including deposit protection, in full.
This keeps everything fair for everyone involved.

Other providers require up to 50% of the purchase price upfront. We definitely didn’t want to handle it that way. At the same time, it’s important to us to ensure the offer is fair and secure for everyone involved. €415 seems a good amount for that in our eyes.
The €415 is simultaneously the deposit for the car and the fee for the organization and planning by KiwiQuest.

    Important to note:
The €415 is borne by the local workshops and not by you. Prices remain as they would be if you bought directly on your own from our partner workshops in Canada.

    User question:
Are there conditions for refunding the deposit?

    No.

If you decide on site not to buy the car and have booked deposit protection, you will receive your full deposit back. You don't have to give a reason or justify yourself (although your feedback would, of course, be helpful for us). There are no specific conditions.

    User question:
What happens to my deposit if I don't buy the campervan?

Thanks to deposit protection, your deposit is returned if you choose not to buy the car on-site. You are under no obligation to purchase the prepared camper.

    User question:
How much time do I have to make the deposit?

Generally, it is advisable to make the deposit as early as possible.

We are fully booked every year and must prioritize the available spots for those who have already made a deposit. The reason is that we need to treat the workshops fairly. Even though the deposit obligates you to nothing, it signals to the workshops that a request is sincere.

(Good to know: Should you cancel your request, we will refund your deposit. It's just about reserving a spot for you.)

    User question:
Will I receive a receipt or document for the deposit?

Yep. You will automatically receive a regular receipt for your deposit.

The receipt ensures clarity and security for everyone involved – especially for you, so you can prove at any time that you made the deposit. (It's generally good to have such a document.)

There will also, of course, be an official purchase contract on site, which will be explained to you step by step. However, you only need to sign this after you have seen and test-driven the car.

(Note: Be cautious with companies that require you to sign such a contract before viewing the car!)

  8. Frequently Asked Questions

What other KiwiQuesters wanted to know…

    User question:
    Is the request binding?

No. Initially, a spot is reserved for you. You are never obliged to make a purchase.

    User question:
How is the remaining amount paid on site?

    There are three options:

Option 1: In cash (not available at all partners)
In Canada, the daily withdrawal limit for an EC card is often between 200 and 1,000 CAD (Canadian Dollars), depending on your German bank and your account settings. Please plan accordingly and maybe bring part of the money from Germany.

Note: This option is not available at all partner workshops.

Option 2: By credit card (not available at all partners)
For credit cards, Visa or MasterCard are possible. Please inquire about set limits and have them adjusted if necessary, so nothing goes wrong during payment.

Note: Also ask to ensure your credit card is unlocked for Canada, for safety.

    Option 3: By transfer (recommended)
Our partner workshops use wise.com to facilitate payments by transfer. We also recommend you to open an account there, as it only takes 20 minutes and is generally very handy for Canada.

    User question:
What to do in case of damage?

The buyback option is currently available in Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, and Calgary. Of course, you also have the option to independently sell your car in a different location in the country. :-)

    User question:
Do I have to specify a fixed date when requesting, or can I change it later?

You can initially enter an approximate date to secure a spot and then make changes later once you know your exact arrival date. A simple email to us (or the team at the partner workshop processing your request) is enough.

    User question:
Where do I pick up the car?

Pickup locations are available in Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, and Calgary. The address will be sent by email after receiving the deposit.

    User question:
    How is the camper insured?

Unfortunately, the new car owner in Canada must organize their own insurance, as we can't offer it. However, the on-site teams are happy to help you find the right direction – especially if you ask them directly.

    Possibly good to know:
In Canada, it is mandatory to insure your camper. Liability insurance is required to drive on public roads. Therefore, it's important to secure insurance to protect yourself and others in the event of an accident.

    User question:
Should you pick up the camper right after the flight or spend a few days in a hotel first?

The two models mainly differ in size. The Medium Camper Plus models are slightly longer, which often means more storage and a larger sleeping area. Additionally, in the Plus model, the sleeping area can be converted into a sitting area. While not ideal for long sitting periods, it can be really practical on rainy days.

Moreover, this allows the local workshop more financial flexibility when preparing your car. This can often significantly improve quality.

    User question:
How much can the actual model deviate from the desired model?

Typically, the partner workshops find a suitable model for you. However, if nothing suitable is available on the public market, they might switch to a slightly smaller model to ensure you're not without a camper upon arrival.

In this case, you naturally have the option on site to decide against the purchase or (if available) choose another model.

    User question:
Do I know beforehand what kind of car it will be (model & brand)?

The partner workshops begin preparations only after the deposit has been received (at least 5 weeks before pickup). They have to work with the models currently available on the public car market in Canada.

Still, there are some usual vehicle types often used for which model:

    Budget Camper (CAD 8,995.00)
    Station Wagons and Sedans

    Light Camper (CAD 9,995.00)
Station Wagons, Subaru Legacy / Outback

Medium Camper - Basic (CAD 13,995.00)
    • Toyota Ipsum, Mazda Premacy, Honda Odyssey, Toyota Wish

Medium Camper - Plus (CAD 14,995.00)
    • Toyota Estima / Previa, Mazda MPV, Nissan Presage

Large Camper - Basic (CAD 17,995.00)
    • Mitsubishi L300 SWB, Nissan Vanette, Mazda Bongo, Nissan Elgrande, Honda Elysion

Large Camper - Plus (CAD 19,995.00)
    • Mitsubishi L300 LWB, Nissan Caravan, Isuzu Commo, Toyota Hiace

    User question:
What happens after I've made the deposit for the camper?

Generally, it is recommended to make the deposit as soon as possible.

We are fully booked every year and prioritize available places for those who have already paid a deposit. The reason is that we want to ensure fairness towards the workshops. Even if the deposit doesn't bind you to anything, it signals that your request is sincere.

(Good to know: If you cancel your request, we will refund your deposit. It's just about reserving one of the spots for you.)
